DGM’s Timeline


DGM was established in The Netherlands by its founding father, Frank Petillon. Frank began his career in the airline industry, working for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. He later left KLM and moved on to the freight forwarding industry, where he would eventually start his own forwarding company, Air Cargo Express, based in Amsterdam.


Once ACE was well established, Frank saw an opportunity to offer professional expertise to an industry dealing with complex and conflicting regulations for the transport of hazardous goods. So he created a separate division at ACE that would focus entirely on the development of dangerous goods initiatives, and this is how DGM (Dangerous Goods Management group) was born.


The following year, DGM broke away from ACE and became its own entity, expanding its scope of services to provide comprehensive technical, shipping, packing, and documenting solutions for carriers transporting dangerous goods by air, land, or sea.


Frank Petillon established DGM Support to provide additional technical, marketing, and other support functions to the DGM Global Network, a growing umbrella organization. Expanding by way of a franchise model approach, DGM Support has to date established the DGM brand in as many as 37 countries and over 50 independent network offices worldwide, all using the same brand name, core operating principles, and stringent standards.


DGM Services, Inc. was founded in the United States by Jean Petillon and Marc Petillon and based in Houston, Texas. To better serve their customers, DGM expanded the scope of services to accommodate a range of product lines from General Cargo to Project Cargo to On-Site Packing. Today, DGM Services, Inc. has 4 locations in the U.S.–Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, and Miami–as well as associated office locations in New York and Chicago.


Founder Frank Petillon passed away. However, his vision continues to guide the growth and development of the DGM network around the world.
